System Behaviors and Edge Cases

  • Double-clicking Update Gateway Devices forces a full device reconciliation between the Engage gateway and BluSKY.
  • Many actions require a selection context:
    • Gateway-specific actions are disabled until a gateway is highlighted.
    • Lock actions require one or more locks selected.
  • Sync vs Reset:
    • Sync operations reconcile differences without destructive clearing.
    • Reset operations rebuild the database/roster and can remove unmanaged devices; use cautiously.
  • Firmware updates:
    • The firmware file path must be reachable by the BluSKY client/agent performing the update.
    • Model-specific firmware applies only to matching devices (NDE/LE/BE/FE).
    • Power or network loss during update may leave devices in recovery mode; rerun the update if needed.
  • Simulate Swipe:
    • If the entered Card/Facility Code does not match a defined format, the action fails and an error is logged.
    • Simulated events appear in control/transaction logs marked as simulated.
  • Delete Site is blocked if gateways or locks are still assigned; remove or move devices first.
  • Delete Gateway removes the gateway from BluSKY but does not factory-reset the hardware.
  • Pause only stops screen updates; background device communication continues.
  • Clear Screens removes only the on-screen logs; it does not clear device history.
  • Selected Gateway checkbox filters displayed traffic; it does not limit which device a command is sent to—device selection still controls command targets.

Permissions

  • Screen access: Global Administrators, Integrators/Installers, and Tenant/Site Administrators with Engage Management rights.
  • Device control (Lock/Unlock/Release, Sync/Reset): requires DeviceControl or EngageDiagnostics permission.
