Auto-ID and MFA-ID in BluSKY
Overview
BluSKY automatically manages three primary person images within each Person Record → Photos Tab:
- Glamour Shot – the manually uploaded professional photo (badge or HR image).
- Auto-ID – automatically generated photo from Person Reader interactions.
- MFA-ID – automatically generated photo from multi-factor authentication (facial login).
Auto-ID Creation and Update Process
Each time a person interacts with a Person Reader, BluSKY captures a proof-of-presence image. This occurs whenever a valid credential is presented — face, mobile wallet, card, PIN, or QR code.
The Process:
- Image Capture – One proof-of-presence frame is selected from the interaction.
- Image Upload – That image is sent to the BluSKY Cloud for analysis.
- Quality Evaluation – The system evaluates centering, field-of-view coverage, lighting, focus, and forward-facing orientation.
- Scoring – A quality score is assigned.
- Comparison & Replacement – If the new image’s score exceeds the existing Auto-ID image’s score, BluSKY automatically replaces it.
This continuous improvement cycle ensures that the Auto-ID image always reflects the most current and highest-quality likeness of each individual.
Why Auto-ID Matters
Unlike static Glamour Shots (often outdated, staged, or stylized), Auto-ID images:
- Reflect the person’s real, everyday appearance.
- Improve visual verification against live or recorded video.
- Eliminate thousands of hours of manual photo updates.
- Enhance security accuracy and reduce false mismatches.
Sync Challenges
Occasionally, the Auto-ID image can become misaligned with the Glamour Shot due to:
- Credential reassignments without wiping old Auto-ID data.
- Credential sharing or misuse.
- Re-enrollment without proper cleanup.
These cause an Auto-ID mismatch (e.g., new Glamour Shot + old Auto-ID or vice versa).
Face Scrub Process
BluSKY runs a nightly Face Scrub background service that:
- Validates each person’s photo set.
- Detects mismatches between Glamour Shot and Auto-ID.
- Removes or flags invalid associations.
- Attempts automatic correction wherever possible.
If ambiguity remains, mismatches are queued for manual review. BluB0X continues developing autonomous Face Reconciliation to improve accuracy and minimize human intervention.
MFA-ID Process
The MFA-ID (Multi-Factor Authentication ID) follows the same logic and scoring rules as Auto-ID. The only difference is that the image source is MFA login interactions (facial sign-in to BluSKY). This provides an up-to-date facial record for user verification and audit purposes.
