BluREMOTE Setup Instructions for System Integrators and Users

Objective: To guide system administrators, system integrators, security directors, and building managers through the process of setting up BluREMOTE for a building or company and preparing it for employee use.

Pre-Deployment Preparation

  1. Assessment and Planning:
    • Identify all access points (doors, gates, turnstiles, elevators) that will be managed by BluREMOTE.
    • Determine the Geofence radius for the facility.
    • Plan for initial seeding of the database with user and access point data.
    • Contact BluB0X Support and ask them to setup BluREMOTE in the database.
      • This prevents customers from enabling this without talking to Integrators.

Step-by-Step Setup Guide

1. Initial System Setup

System Administrator/System Integrator:

  1. Login to BluSKY:
    • Access BluSKY at BluSKY.
    • Login with administrator credentials.
  2. Configure Facilities:
    • Navigate to the setup menu and select Facilities.
    • Add or edit the facility information including name, address, and other relevant details.
    • Configure the Geofence radius:
      • Enter the distance in meters.
      • Select the center point of the facility on the map and fine-tune the location.
    • Save changes.
  3. Setup Access Points:
    • Go to the Access Points setup menu.
    • Add each door, turnstile, gate, and elevator to be managed.
    • Ensure each access point is properly labeled and configured with relevant details (e.g., location, type, permissions).
      • Every portal, floor, and floorstop must have a floor and location associated with it.  This is extremely import for the AI and BluREMOTE to accurately know where you are in the building to combine your scans with all the other people using BluREMOTE to prune un-reliable points and make hands free use automatic... reduce clicks in the UI.
  4. Seed the Database with people if you have not already:
    • Import user data into BluSKY.
    • Navigate to People under the administration menu.
    • Use the Personnel Import function to upload an excel file containing user details (name, email, access levels).
    • Assign initial access levels to users based on roles and departments.

2. Configuring BluREMOTE

Security Director/Building Manager:

You can enable/disable BluREMOTE for people several ways.

  1. On a person by person basis
    1. This is good for initial role out or for only key people.
  2. On an AL/ALG basis
    1. Great for giving BluREMOTE to large groups of people
  3. Enable BluREMOTE for Users:
    • Navigate to the people list screen under the administration menu.
    • Select and edit each user’s record.
    • In the access tab, under BluREMOTE, select All, None, or Default for each Access Level or Access Level Group
      • All - Override settings in Access Level and Access Level Groups for BluREMOTE and make them all available for BluREMOTE.
        • This is excellent for rolling out of a small set of people, maybe those reviewing pre-role out or specialy VIP's.
      • None - Override settings in Access Level and Access Level Groups for BluREMOTE and make them all un-available for BluREMOTE.
        • Good for temp employees or interns that you do not want to have this ability.
      • Default - Go with what is set in the Access Level and Access Level Group.
    • Save the changes.
  4. Enable BluREMOTE in AL and ALG:
    • Navigate to Access Levels under the administration menu.
    • Select and edit the relevant access levels.

System Administrator/Building Manager:

  1. Enable Location Services:
    • Ensure users have enabled Location Services on their iPhones:
      • Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services.
      • Enable Location Services and set to "While Using the App" for the browser (Chrome/Safari).
  2. Create BluREMOTE Favorites: (Must be done on person by person bases on their mobile device, AI will be creating favorites in the future bases on the person's usage pattern and default floor setting.)
    • In Mobil Device, for frequently used access points, hold down on a door, turnstile, or elevator for five seconds.
