How to Upgrade or Replace a Mercury Controller

Learn how to replace an existing controller or upgrade from an EP or LP to an MP controller

The MP/LP/EP controllers can replace each other. They have the same form factor and placement of Readers, Inputs, and Outputs. From BluSKY the steps are:
- Follow the process for a new controller in our knowledge base. - https://knowledge.blub0x.com/Support/Hardware_Setup/Network_Configuration_for_Controllers
- Make sure to use the same settings you used for the EP/LP controller.
- Login to BluSKY
- Goto Setup->Controller to find your current controller, select it, select Edit.
- Change the MAC address to match your EP/LP controller
- Change the controller type to match your new controller. Ex MP1501 or MP1502
- If the controller in Step one is the same as the previous controller you do not need to change anything else.
- Save
- You need to clear and sync the controllers. Goto Setup->Controller-door-floor diagnostic (https://blusky.blub0x.com/en-US/Mercury/Control) Re-syncing the controller and people can take some time for controllers with a lot of people. Rule of thumb is 20 minutes for 1,200 people. You can sync multiple controllers in different browser tabs concurrently.
- Select the controller you just brought online.
- Select "Controller Info"
- Select "Clear Data", I will reboot. Once it reboots and is online again, select "Controller Info" again.
- Select "Sync Controller" to sync the controller to the new board.
- Select "Sync People"
