BluREMOTE: Implications for Elevator Manufacturers
Overview
BluB0X Security has recently released a new product called BluREMOTE. It comes free with our BluSKY platform and every existing customer already has access to use BluREMOTE with their systems. The reason why this is significant to all elevator manufacturers is because BluREMOTE enables a person to use their BluSKY “virtual credential” on their smartphone and receive an elevator car assignment back on their smartphone from the DDE system. BluREMOTE can also use a virtual credential to set the floor stops for traditional relay elevator access control from a smartphone. Essentially every person in a facility, with the appropriate access, has a reader and DDE keypad in the palm of their hands. BluREMOTE works across all six DDE systems that we integrate with today; KONE, MCE, Mitsubishi, OTIS, Schindler and Thyssen Krupp. There is nothing that an elevator manufacturer has to do to get their system to work with BluREMOTE. All the work is done on the BluSKY side.
How it Works
BluREMOTE is simple to use. For starters, it does not use a mobile app and does not use Bluetooth. But it does require an internet connection. Just log into BluSKY using your browser, select the BluREMOTE icon, and then select the portal, elevator or floor you wish to access. You will see your request followed by a feedback message containing access granted, access denied (and the reason) or an elevator car assignment. You will only see the portals, elevators or floors to which you have access and that are in proximity to you. BluREMOTE follows all the rules established for a Person such as ADA, VIP, segmentation, life safety overrides, default floor, etc. Log in once at the beginning of the workday and remain logged in throughout the day for easy access to BluREMOTE at any time. View the BluREMOTE instructional videos for more information.
Try It for Yourself
To get an understanding of BluREMOTE and how it works try it for yourself using your smartphone and our demo system. Here’s how:
Go to https://blusky.blub0x.com Use Email: ma@ac.com
Use Password: Blub0x123! (the first "B" is capitalized and the "0" is a zero)
Select the BluREMOTE icon
Select any portal to open it – see the request and the response
Select the “Elevator” tab at the top of the interface to see your elevator access
Select the button labeled “Car” under Bank A to release the floor stops for this person – see the request and the response – this is for relay elevators
Under “DDE Bank High Rise” select the floor you want to go to then the floor you are on and get your DDE Car assignment – this is for DDE
Why BluREMOTE, Why Now?
Since the introduction of the iPhone in 2007, people have adopted the smartphone as a central device for controlling their life. The work force demographic is also changing. 38% of the work force today are Millennials. In 2020 they will comprise 50% and 75% by 2025. Millennials and Gen Z are most comfortable with a smartphone. BluREMOTE will not only be a convenience, it will be a requirement. Just like DDE.
BluSKY Virtual Credential Technology
BluSKY virtual credential technology represents a big step forward for the security industry because you no longer have to have a physical credential, a Bluetooth credential or even a reader to provide secure access. The smartphone is the reader and the credential is virtual in the BluSKY Cloud. Because the technology does not rely on card readers and cards, all the problems associated with card formats and cloning go away. The virtual credential can be used across systems such as on a base building turnstile and elevators and then on tenant doors. The technology can also be used remotely at a security desk, a reception desk, a gate, or a garage. It is a more secure way to provide access because it creates an audit trail of the event. It also provides better two-way communication between a person and a secure area. If a person can’t gain access, a message as to why they are being denied access is presented. This is far better than no message from a reader. Virtual credentials can also request or provide one-time access exceptions and additional identity information. All things conventional readers can’t provide. BluPASS and BluID
Two of the biggest challenges that DDE manufacturers face are managing the variety of ever expanding credentials and visitor management-access control-DDE integration. Both of these pain points are overcome by using BluSKY and BluREMOTE. BluSKY manages 10 different types of credentials for employees, visitors and vendors including physical, digital, Bluetooth and virtual and provides frictionless visitor management integration. Imagine as a visitor not having to go to the security desk to get credential but rather receiving their virtual credential on their smartphone and using it to magically get them through a turnstile and provide a DDE car assignment. We can do that.
Person Reader
The Person Reader is an all-in-one reader that completes the picture for DDE keypads and turnstile integrations. The Person can read the most common types of credentials and biometrics as well as displays a DDE car assignment on its screen. The Person Reader can identify a person by face, voice, name, prox, iclass, MiFARE, Bluetooth, Bar Code, QR Code and PIN. It is the best possible reader for turnstiles, DDE integrations and DDE keypads. It provides a proof of presence for every transaction as well as onscreen feedback. We strongly recommend you consider this technology for all your DDE implementations.
Working to Improve BluREMOTE with DDE
We are working closely with each elevator manufacturer to bring forward the best combination of BluREMOTE with their relay elevator and DDE products. To that end we have installed our DDE integration in each manufacturer's demo facility so that our sales, marketing and engineering teams can demo BluREMOTE and the integration with BluSKY to any customer from any device, anywhere, anytime. This includes access control and visitor management integration.
MNDA and Patent Pending
BluBØX has a MNDA with each of our elevator partners since the development of our DDE integrations. BluBØX also has a patent pending that protects the intellectual property of BluSKY of which the BluREMOTE, BluPASS and BluID technology is a based on. It also has a patent pending that protects the intellectual property of the Person Reader. We also strongly believe in transparency which is why all this information is available openly and freely on our knowledge base BluINFO. Please feel free to share any information on BluINFO with your colleagues and more importantly your customers.
