BACnet

The Building Automation Control Network (BACnet) standard is a data communication protocol for building automation and control networks; it enables interoperability between different building systems and devices in building automation and control applications.

Originally developed in 1987 by the American Society of Heating Refrigerating and Air- conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), BACnet has been an ANSI standard since 1995 and an ISO standard since 2003. BACnet is a registered trademark of ASHRAE.
