How to Opt In or Out of Appearance Recognition Using a Person Reader
Follow these steps to opt in or out of appearance recognition at any person reader:
Prerequisites
- Ensure you have a valid credential registered in the system (e.g., card, mobile credential).
Steps to Opt In or Out
- Approach the Person Reader
Locate a person reader in your building or designated area.
Present your Credential
- Tap your valid credential (card, mobile, etc.) on the person reader.
- The Person Reader will begin listening for instructions for up to 8 seconds.
Speak the Command
- Say one of the trained phrases clearly to the person reader:
- Example phrases:
- “Enable face recognition for me.”
- “Disable face recognition for me.”
- Tip: Use an exact phrase for best results. Variations also work.
Wait for Processing
- It may take 5 to 20 seconds for the system to process your request.
How to Confirm Your Status
- Opt-In Confirmation:
Attempt to use the person reader. If you are recognized, you have successfully opted in. - Opt-Out Confirmation:
- Attempt to use the person reader. If you are not recognized, you have successfully opted out.
Important Notes
- No Immediate Feedback:
The person reader will not display confirmation of your opt-in/opt-out status. - Future Updates:
A confirmation email will be sent when your opt-in/opt-out status changes.

Any of the below phrases or similar phrases will set a person’s Opt In to Appearance, Voice and Name to True and they Will be able to use their appearance as an identity credential at any Person Reader just like an access card.
